How to Replace Glass in Glass Louver Windows

Replace jalousie windowpanes yourself and preserve these time-tested window systems.

Glass louver windows are a type of window design often referred to as a louver window. Jalousie window frames incorporate metal housings that use a setscrew and wedge or metal tab to hold the panes in place.

1.Hold the glass pane firmly with one hand.

2. Remove the setscrews from the housings on each end of the pane using a screwdriver.

3. Slide the old pane out of the housings carefully and discard.

4. Remove any dirt, corrosion or other debris from the housings before inserting the new glass.

5. Insert the new glass pane into the metal housings, replace the metal wedge and secure with the setscrews.
